Bio
Michaela D. Jordan is your favorite non-binary, guitar shredding siren call A.K.A. The Sea Tease and founder of Golden Poppy Music; an artist focused alternative to a traditional record label and management company.
On Golden Poppy: "I saw the distrust that had been sown between musicians and music executives over decades of mismanagement and lack of respect in the music industry. It is almost a cliche at this point to see a manager take advantage of a musician. I have been a professional musician since I was 13 and have been working for record labels for years; so, to me, there had to be a way for the two sides of the industry to meet in respect and harmony. I had the opportunity to work for Ropeadope Records before I moved to Los Angeles. I loved how they put their artists first and, as a musician, I wanted to start a company that held onto that spirit and also offered musicians an alternative to a traditional record label and management structure."
Golden Poppy Music provides an artist the tools and support they need to succeed in the music industry. However, unlike a traditional 360 record label, management structure or anything else that provides similar services, the power and rights to all of the work remains with the artist.
This subversion of the traditional music industry system was brought about by 20 years of experience in the music industry as an artist and working for various record labels; creating a way to provide artists with the vital services that they required without the dilemma of them sacrificing the rights to their music, their royalties or their performance fees. Because of this game changing approach, Golden Poppy Music has become home to trailblazing musician-activists, broadway stars, Grammy winners and chart toppers.
On The Sea Tease: In addition to being the founder of Golden Poppy Michaela D. Jordan is also known as their stage name The Sea Tease. They have been a vocalist, songwriter and guitarist for 20 years and have now begun producing and engineering their most recent projects. Primarily performing as a power trio, The Sea Tease was formed in Philadelphia in 2015 and is currently based in Los Angeles. Resilient was followed by a live album as well as two singles, a cover of Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin and Slipping, an original. This was followed up by the entirely self produced singles, Slipping, One Step (featuring Prince trumpeter and horn arranger Philip Lassiter), and Pills, Lines & Patterns as a lead up to the self produced, composed and performed album Come Home To Yourself. They have since released three singles, Back Into Your Body, Alchemy and Ruthless leading up to their third album. Alchemy has been seeing national radio play as well as international playlist placement.
The Sea Tease has also been featured as a guitarist and vocalist on Ram On, a tribute and rerecording of Paul McCartney’s Ram featuring Denny Seiwell and sanctioned by McCartney himself.
